Disappointing Products

With the insane amount of beauty products I’ve bought in the past two years, it’s safe to say there have been quite a few duds in the bunch. While I’m not saying these products are horrible and should have never existed, they just didn’t work for me, sometimes heartbreakingly so.

I’ve tried dozens of makeup products that I just didn't like, but these come to mind when I think of what truly disappointed me. (And it’s probably because most of these products are high-end and I cry inside when I think about it.)

Benefit’s BeneTint: I have no idea why I bought this. I had just started using makeup and I guess I just thought it was a cool concept when I tried out a sample. Not only does this dry and set incredibly fast, it appears so blotchy on my cheeks that it looks like a rash and it dries out my lips. I have about a million (okay, maybe only 4) of the sample sizes and they’re all just sitting there collecting dust.

Jouer Moisture Tint & Matte Tint: Another noob purchase! Oh, how I wish I could go back… I started off my make-up life with BirchBox, and they sent me a sample size of the Moisture Tint (along with a BeneTint! That first BirchBox brainwashed me) and I bought a full size, and eventually bought the Matte Tint. The Moisture Tint doesn’t really have any coverage and it makes me look greasy…basically, it does nothing but make my skin look worse! The Matte Tint on the other hand…it was just terrible for me. The shade makes me look absolutely orange, and I’m not a big fan of the formula either. It settled cakey and didn’t keep me matte. Such expensive disappointments, I’m crying inside.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars: At $18 a pop, I expected to love the two I bought, Trollop and Memento. I’ve heard SO many people talk about how long these last and how great they wear. I’ve tried countless times to make them work, but they somehow manage to disappear before I even leave the house. Umm, what?! I wish I knew about Sephora’s return policies back then.

Benefit Boi-ing: This is a pretty thick concealer, and I bought it back when they only had 3 shades so it was a blessing if it matched. Unfortunately for me, it’s a bit too dark and it didn’t cover my blemishes as much as I’d like.

I feel very lucky to say that the majority of products I buy turn out pretty well for me, and I'm definitely much more cautious before I buy high-end products (I finally learned my lesson!) What products disappointed you? Do you think I'm insane and love the products I mentioned? Let me know!

It's been a while, I know! I was swamped with midterms so I decided to skip a post, but once midterms were done I was hit with 4 term papers and the cycle continued. Adding in my personal life, work, taking on a second job, and dealing with obstacles on graduating from college and transferring over to a 4-year school....it's been a rough few weeks. Hopefully I'll be back on track and I'll see you guys next time!
