Tarte "Lights, Camera, Splashes 4-in-1" Mascara Review

The first time I wore make-up (excluding my sister's Sweet 16's) I was 17 years old getting ready for my High School Senior Prom. My sisters did my make-up, and my oldest sister's mother-in-law did my hair. I loved my dress and heels, and it was probably the best night of my 4 years in high school. It was also the first time I wore contacts, and from then on it was as if I had seen the error of my ways. I started wearing contacts regularly, as I still do, and that was when my make-up obsession began.

Lights, Camera, Splashes 4-in-1 Waterproof Mascara

One thing I remember clearly from that night? Asking my sister what the heck mascara was! At first glance, it looks like a spiky paint brush/torture device crafted by a demon. Although I was scared, I loved the way it made my already long and full eyelashes look. That being said, my eyelashes are on a love/hate relationship with this mascara.
While it is jet black, completely waterproof, and easy to use, it's a very wet formula and always leaves marks on my brow bone. Since I naturally have long eyelashes, this mascara amplifies them to the point where they touch my brow bone when I blink! Mixing that with a very wet formula means I always have little black marks that require additional time to be removed. While I love the look of this mascara, I don't love having to remove waterproof makeup before I leave the house.

If I had to put this love/hate relationship on a scale, it would probably be 80% love, 20% hate, so it definitely isn't a bad mascara! It's just a little troublesome for the long eyelash girls like me, talk about a first world problem! Although I do really enjoy this mascara, I think there are far too many other mascaras in the world to repurchase this one again. This mascara retails for $20 and may be purchased wherever Tarte is sold, such as the Tarte website, Sephora, and Ulta.
